India and Ireland locked horns against each other in Dublin for the second T20I, the coin went the way of Ireland and they elected to bowl first. The Men in Blue got off to a great start courtesy of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Jaiswal made 18 off 11 balls with two fours and one six. Jaiswal was the first to fall when he was caught by Cutis Campher off Craig Young. Tilak Varma could not get going as he was caught by George Dockrell of Barry McCarthy.

Despite two wickets falling with the score of 34, Gaikwad kept attacking the Ireland bowlers which brought India back into the match. The Maharashtrian was provided great support by Sanju Samson who cracked an entertaining 40 off 26 balls with five fours and one six. This gave India some much-needed momentum. The man from Kerala fell with a score of 105-3. Gaikwad continued and made a valuable 58 off 43 balls with six fours and one six.

Rinku Singh made 38 off 21 balls with two fours and three sixes for India

Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube came good down the order for India as well. Rinku fresh off his heroics in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) smashed 38 off 21 balls with two fours and three sixes. Dube made an unbeaten 22 off 16 balls with two sixes. All these contributions helped India get to a commanding target of 185-5 in their 20 overs. McCarthy was the most successful bowler for Ireland as he took 2-36 in his four overs.

In the run chase, Ireland got off to a rocky start as Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker were back in the hut for only 19 on the board. It was an innings of two halves for Ireland as they kept losing wickets at one end but Andrew Balbirnie kept going strong at the other end, the right-hander cracked a stroke-filled 72 off 51 balls with five fours and four sixes. For India, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi scalped two wickets each in their respective spells.

Ireland made their way to 152-8 in their 20 overs. The Men in Blue recorded a comprehensive win of 33 runs and now are leading the T20I series 2-0. With a game to go, hopefully, India will want to give all players in the squad a go having wrapped up the series in a strong fashion. The next assignment for the Men in Blue is the Asia Cup.
