According to reports, the winners between Argentina and France will get $42 million as prize whereas the runners-up will win $30 million. Similarly, the third-placed team will win $27 million, whereas the team in the fourth position will lay hands on $25 million.
The teams that bowed out in the quarterfinals of the competition, England, Portugal, Netherlands, and Brazil, will get $17 million each whereas the teams that could not get past the Round of 16 will receive $13 million. The teams that participated in the quadrennial competition but could not qualify for the knockouts will receive $9 million each.
Lionel Messi will eye on the most coveted prize to end his glorious career on high whereas France are eyeing a 60-year-old record. No team has won two consecutive World Cups in the last 60 years. Kylian Mbappe has all the chances to become the youngest player to win two World Cups. Pele, the Brazilian legend, won his second World Cup when he was 25. Mbappe has the chance to win two Copa Mundial before he turns 24.
Before the finale of the FIFA World Cup 2022 between Argentina and France, the third place play-offs will take place between Morocco and Croatia on 17th December at Khalifa International Stadium. Croatia will look to grab the third spot whereas Morocco will look to end their astonishing campaign on high.
