Ravichandran Ashwin’s absence for India raises massive questions on his participation for remainder of series

Yet another blow for Rohit Sharma and Co?

Indian star Ravichandran Ashwin is back with his family to take care of his mother. The 37-year-old will not take part in the rest of the third Test vs England in Rajkot. It is a massive jolt for the Indian team who are already missing a few key players.

India’s cricket board has already addressed the situation via a statement late on Friday. As per reports, the Indian team will continue to play with ten players for the rest of the match. Young Padikkal had come out to the field in the first hour of the third day’s play.

Friday was a huge day for Ashwin and Indian Cricket. The veteran Indian player had breached the 500-wicket mark in Test cricket. Some of the biggest names had come out to congratulate Ashwin for reaching this mark.

Is Ashwin set to miss the final two Tests?

Rohit Sharma has faced yet another blow, Ravichandran Ashwin officially gets out of the 3rd Test. The Indian veteran is back with his family and will not take part in the game anymore. India’s cricket fans saw the shocking news emerge late Friday evening.

Indian Board put out a statement that read, “Ravi Ashwin has flown back home, and withdrawn from the Test squad for the ongoing Test series against England. He has left with immediate effect, after a family medical emergency. The Board has extended its heartfelt support to Ashwin in the hard times, and requested fans to respect his privacy.”

As per reports, Ravichandran Ashwin is also out of the entire series. It is widely believed that the 37-year-old will not play the next two games in Ranchi and Dharamshala. The fourth Test in Ranchi is set to begin on the 25th of February, and the last game will be played on the 7th of March.

While Padikkal has been allowed to take the field, he cannot bat as per the laws of the game. The permission for a substitute fielder to bat and bowl can only arise when a player has suffered a concussion. Since Ashwin has left the field due to personal issues, India will have to play with ten men in Rajkot.
