This is not the first time India have got 5 runs penalty during the Indore Test between India and New Zealand it was Ravindra Jadeja who got a warning twice before the runs were awarded to New Zealand. India declared the innings at a score of 557 runs and New Zealand started their innings at 5/0. Later India won the test by 321 runs as Ashwin took 13 wickets.

According to the MCC (law 41.11), “The protected area is defined as that area of the pitch contained within a rectangle bounded at each end by imaginary lines parallel to the popping creases and 5 ft/1.52 m in front of each, and on the sides by imaginary lines, one each side of the imaginary line joining the centres of the two middle stumps, each parallel to it and 1 ft/30.48 cm from it.”

India have posted a total of 388 runs going into lunch.

India’s dominance and penalty drama unfold in the Indore Test

On Day 2 of the third Test match against England in Nirajan Shah Stadium Indian team faced a setback as Ravindra Jadeja who scored his century on Day 1 was out by Joe Root and Kuldeep Yadav was dismissed by James Andreson. England got two wickets earlier.

While debutant Dhurv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin are batting on. As Ravichandran Ashwin was batting on the 102th over which was bowled by leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed the fourth ball of the match saw India getting a five-run penalty. While taking the run Ravichandran Ashwin ran between the danger zone and the on-field umpire Joel Wilson gave a fun-runs Penalty. Because of this rule, England have got 5 runs in bonus which means they will start their innings with 5 runs instead of 0.

Before giving a penalty of 5 runs to India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja received the warning in the last ball of the 80th over as ran on the danger zone.
