Wasim Akram took social media by storm when he lost his cool when Karachi Kings lost a thriller to Multan Sultans in Pakistan Super League. When Kings lost a last-ball thriller against Sultans, Akram was frustrated and kicked the sofas in anger and the whole incident was caught on camera. Ramiz Raja also criticised Akram for his act.

The former PCB chief took a dig at Akram and said that the former cricketer, as the president of the Kings, should be a responsible individual and tone down his antics as such incidents can mar his image and also create a sense of tension around the team.

“You can’t do anything while sitting outside. You have to back the players you have selected. You need to analyse things with a cool head. These gestures only create more frustration,”  Raja said in an interaction with Cricket Pakistan. Raja said that Akram holds a position of high esteem which means he has to watch out and be more guarded and take care of his actions.

It is better not to be in public view – Ramiz Raja

“Plus, it doesn’t look good in terms of optics, if you can’t control your temper, which is most important in this position, so it is better to be not in public view,” Raja added. Raja and Akram have had a standoff in the recent past with the two taking jibes at each other from various standpoints.

Sultans made 196-2 in their 20 overs as Shaan Masood scored 51 off 33 balls, with six fours and one six. Mohammad Rizwan, the skipper, made 110 off 64 balls, with 10 fours and four sixes. Rilee Rossouw made 29 off 21 balls, with four fours to give Sultans the finishing touches.

In the run chase, the Kings came so close and lost a thriller by three runs. James Vince made 75 off 34 balls, with seven fours and six sixes. Imad Wasim, the skipper, made 46 off 26 balls, with five sixes. But in the end, the Kings made 193-5 and lost the game. Abbas Afridi kept his cool in the last over and got the wicket of Ben Cutting, despite conceding two sixes to tilt the game in favour of the Sultans.
