The Punjab franchise have decided to turn a new leaf in their coaching chapter with the appointment of Trevor Bayliss as head coach. The punt to go ahead with an Indian head coach did not work as former head coach Anil Kumble was not able to deliver the goods across four seasons. This has now prompted the Punjab franchise to go the foreign coach route.
Trevor Bayliss is another Australian who has been roped in by the Punjab Team. This comes after Australian coaches liked Darren Leeman and Ryan Harris served the Punjab franchise in the past. The Punjab franchise have not been able to get their hands on the Indian T20 League silverware since the inaugural edition of the Indian T20 League.
Their two best editions as a side have been in 2008 and in 2014 when they were semifinalists. The best performance for the franchise came in the 2014 season where they finished runners up, losing the final against Kolkata.
Trevor Bayliss comes in with huge wealth of coaching experience to his name, having taken the reigns of the England side from the 2015 World Cup debacle and then turning them into a world class side across all formats. He has also won the Indian T20 League with the Kolkata side in 2012 and in 2014. The Australian has worked his magic wand over England and in India as well.

His most recent Indian T20 League assignment was with the Hyderabad side as a coach in 2020 and 2021. He did not fare too well and there were bad times for Hyderabad with the David Warner saga in focus. This will be his third Indian T20 League side that he will be taking over the coaching duties.
The Men in Red and silver will look to start a new chapter under the watchful eyes of Trevor Bayliss.
