Prithvi Shaw’s brawl on street with fans demanding selfie goes viral

The incident happened outside a five-star hotel in Mumbai.

As more details have emerged in what can be seen as a sudden turn in the selfie fiasco which involves India cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his friends, Sana, alias, Sapna Gill was one of the eight people who were booked by the Oshiwara Police in Mumbai. She claimed that Shaw had a stick in his hand when his friends assaulted her.

Al Kashif Khan, who was Sapna Gill’s lawyer, professed that she was being barred from taking a medical Test and that she was at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai. The eight people including Gill were booked by the police for the attack on Ashish Surendra Yadav’s car who was a friend of Shaw. The incident took place in Mumbai outside a five-star hotel.

A stick was seen in Prithvi Shaw’s hand –  Sapna’s lawyer Al Kashif

“Sapna was assaulted by Prithvi. A stick was seen in Prithvi’s hand. Prithvi’s friends assaulted the group first. Sapna is currently at Oshiwara police station. The police are not allowing her to go for medical,” Al Kashif said. Ashish had also made a complaint for damages to his car which happened during the brawl. It all started when Sapna Gill along with Shobhit Thakur a friend of hers when Shaw was having dinner with his friends.

Shaw was gracious and took part in the selfies initially, but things took a rash turn when the girls kept coming and asking for selfies, repeatedly. They were firm in their resolve to get more selfies. The Mumbai cricketer wanted to end things and eat his dinner in peace but when things went haywire, Shaw’s friend had to call for assistance from the hotel manager.

The hotel manager came and told the accused to leave the hotel which riled them up. The girls were standing with baseball bats and to the horror of Shaw and his friends, Ashish’s front and rear car -windows were smashed by the girls, as per a police complaint.

In the complaint filed to the police, Ashish said that the girls followed Shaw and his friends later and intimidated them saying that false cases would be slapped on Prithvi and his friends if INR 50,000 was not paid to the girls. Shaw earned a comeback to the Indian side for the T20Is against New Zealand.
