‘Practice match mein hero, maidan pe zero’ – Fans react as Bangalore play intra-squad practice game ahead of Indian T20 league

Bangalore have their preparations in full swing for the Indian T20 League. The team played an intra-squad practice game ahead of the tournament. The two teams were Suyash XI and Faf XI. Faf XI batted first and scored 215-5 in their 20 overs. The top scorers were Michael Bracewell, who plundered the bowlers to all parts and scored an unbeaten 105 off 55 balls.
Faf du Plessis made 47 off 35 balls. Himanshu picked up 2-37 and Avinash Singh picked up 1-38. In reply, Suyash’s side got the runs and emerged victorious. Glenn Maxwell scored 78 off 46 balls and Mahipal Lomror scored 48 off 27 balls. Suyash XI made 217-6 to ace the chase and win the game.
Fan-made fun of the same on Twitter and said that Bangalore will not be able to replicate their form from the practice games. Bangalore also have the Chinnaswamy Stadium problem to contend with. The stadium is packed with loyal fans, who pledge their support to the franchise, but the venue has not been a happy hunting ground for the Bold Army.
Bangalore have not won an Indian T20 League title in 15 editions
Since the last three editions of the Indian T20 League were held out of Bangalore, the franchise relished the bigger grounds and their bowling attack stood up to the task. The bowling unit relished bowling in the UAE and in Mumbai where the pitches always had something for the bowlers. The Chinnaswamy, on the other hand, is a nightmare for any bowling side.
The small ground and short boundaries have not been a friend of the bowlers. Bangalore have not won a trophy in the Indian T20 League. The franchise, however, has made it to three finals. The Bold Army has also made it to the playoffs in the last three seasons. Bangalore have not revamped their side much, but have done just a little tinkering.
They retained the core of the team and brought in the likes of Reece Topley and Michael Bracewell into the fold. Bangalore will want to have a good season this year and end their trophy drought this time around. Bangalore will be hoping to win a title for their loyal fans.
