Virender Sehwag’s reply to Yuvraj Singh’s tweet about ODI World Cup 2023

Former India star Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter recently and wrote how he wanted a repeat of India’s success in the 2011 campaign. The former legendary left-handed batter also wrote about how India was under pressure in 2011. Yuvraj Singh pondered if the current team has it in them to take the pressure and turn things around in a short space of time.

Virender Sehwag while replying to his illustrious former teammate wrote “ @YUVSTRONG12 ayi baat pressure ki, toh iss baar pressure lenge nahi, denge! Like champions! Peechle 12 saal main, host team World Cup jeeti hain”.

Virender Sehwag later pointed out how Australia and England had emulated India’s success in 2011. The Indian cricket team in 2011 had become the first host nation to win the Cricket World Cup. This was emulated by Australia who hosted the tournament in 2015 and by England in 2019.

India will be under pressure just like in 2011 to win the tournament which is being played at home. Rohit Sharma and his Indian team haven’t won a global tournament since the Champions Trophy win in 2013. India has been reaching semi-finals and finals in each of the tournaments that have been played globally.

Virender Sehwag played a key role in the 2011 World Cup for India with 380 runs in the tournament. The right-hander began with a blistering 175 in the 1st game against Bangladesh. Sehwag also scored 38 runs in just 25 balls in the semi-final game against Pakistan.

Yuvraj Singh was the player of the tournament for his 362 runs with the bat and 15 wickets with the ball. Yuvraj picked his career-best 5/31 in the game against Ireland. The left-arm spinner also picked two wickets in the final including that of Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara.
