The Indian Cricket Board chief Roger Binny is back in India after his two-day visit to Pakistan. The former World Cup winner in 1983 had visited Pakistan alongside Rajeev Shukla who is the vice president of the Indian Cricket Board. Both Binny and Shukla attended a few games during the Pakistan leg of Asia Cup 2023.

Roger Binny, on his return to India, was heard speak glowingly of his multi-day visit across the border. The visit by the 68-year-old Indian Cricket Board chief has raised expectations of a revival in cricket ties between the two nations. India and Pakistan haven’t played bilateral cricket since 2012.

‘Treated like Kings’ exclaims Roger Binny on his return to India

Indian Cricket Board chief Roger Binny was visibly happy after his visit across the border to Pakistan. Roger Binny on his return to India on Wednesday spoke to PTI and said “We had a very good meeting in Pakistan. We received very good hospitality. They took care of us very well. The main agenda was to watch cricket and to sit and discuss things with them. Overall, it was a very good trip. Pakistan treated us well, they went out of their way to make us comfortable”

In a separate quote to ANI, the 68-year-old said “We were treated like kings in Pakistan. It was an amazing time for us, a great experience”. The Indian Cricket Board chief’s visit came after India had decided not to play the Asia Cup games in Pakistan. The tournament was then partially shifted to Sri Lanka where India is playing its matches.

Finally speaking on the likelihood of cricketing ties resuming and the meeting, Binny said “BCCI can’t say. It is a government issue, and they will have to take a call. We need to wait and see. Hopefully, it will happen because the (ODI) World Cup is coming up, Pakistan team will be in India to play. The meeting was very good. The Pakistan Cricket Board took very good care of us. The security was tremendous, all the arrangements were fabulous. It was a goodwill visit for cricket which went well”
