The 2023 World Cup will be played in India. Rohit Sharma will be leading the side in a World Cup for the first time. In the 2019 World Cup Rohit smashed 648 runs in nine games at an average of 81 and at a strike rate of  98.33.  The opening batter hit one fifty and five hundreds. He was one of the best batters for India in the 2019 edition.

Ahead of the 2023 edition, Rohit expressed a lot of regret for not going all the way to the 2019 World Cup. The Indian Team lost only one game in the round-robin stage of the competition against England. India played New Zealand in the semi-finals and in a two-day contest due to rain, India lost to New Zealand in a thrilling contest despite a great partnership between MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. Martin Guptill ran MS Dhoni out at the wrong time and India lost in yet another semi-final.

Everyone in the Indian Team is desperate to win the World Cup -Rohit Sharma

This is what Rohit had to say on the 2019 World Cup. “2019 World Cup was the best cricket I have played, got some runs but again I have mentioned many times, if you don’t win the trophy, these runs don’t matter, I was disappointed as we have given everything as a team but it wasnt just for us” he said in an interview with the Cricket Governing Body.

Rohit said that the Indian Team is wanting to win the ODI World Cup. “You don’t get World Cups on a platter, you have to really work hard and that is what we have been doing all these years from 2011 till now. We are all fighting for it,”  The Indian skipper said. “Everyone is desperate to go and win, because we know we have a good team. We are all good players, that inner confidence and self-belief is there that they can do it. It’s not happened doesn’t mean that we take it lightly. When we lost the 2022 World Cup, I said we will keep fighting for the next World Cup,”  Rohit added as quoted by India Today.
