Out of favour England pacer mesmerised with Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling ahead of third Test

During the second Test against England, India’s Jasprit Bumrah was threatening with the ball, especially in the first innings. After India amassed 396, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden double hundred, Bumrah came to the party when the Three Lions were 112/1. Thanks to the right-arm pacer’s six-wicket haul, the visitors were bowled out for 253 runs. During his six-for, Bumrah took the wickets of Ollie Pope with a searing yorker.

In the second innings, the Mumbai Indians player in the IPL caught and bowled Ben Foakes with a slower ball. All of this happened more than a week before. Ahead of the upcoming third Test, out of favor, Ollie Robinson has praised the Gujarat player and the former was short on words and wrote about how he felt after watching Bumrah’s bowling.

“Jasprit Bumrah has been crazy good I must have said, ‘This bloke’s the best bowler in the world,’ ten times in Vizag. The way he got Pope out, I was like, ‘Oh my, this guy’s a joke.’ And then he got Foakes out with a slower ball and I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, can this guy get any better?’ You watch him and you think, ‘Wow, he’s good.’ And then there’s something else where you think, ‘He’s amazing, can he do anything more?'” Robinson wrote for Wisden.

The England pacer further added that Foakes and Tom Hartley played Bumrah’s on-pace bowling well in the second innings.

“The way he changes his pace and the different balls that he’s got when the game’s meandering along, Foakes and Hartley in the last game were playing really nicely in the fourth innings and were playing his on-pace ball fairly well, there was no inkling that he was going to bowl that 120kph cutter that got Foakes. His art of surprise and execution is something that I wouldn’t have practiced as much before,” added Robinson.
