With every passing day, the love affair between Virat Kohli and the centuries seems to be a thing of the past. The batter has been going through the worst phase of his life with the bat. The form of Kohli has become a hot topic in the cricketing fraternity with some former cricketers supporting the batter in this dark phase. On the other hand, the rest are rooting for him to be benched.
Jumping on to the Kohli bandwagon, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has said that if there’s anyone who could relate to Kohli at this stage, it’s the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Jadeja further suggested Kohli to sit down with the master and have a drink or a meal with him.
Jadeja reckons that since Tendulkar has risen from bad form multiple times in his 24-year-long career, he would be the perfect guy to talk to for Virat Kohli at the moment. He further said that the reason behind Kohli’s bad form is all in his ‘mind’.
“I said this 8 months ago when we were talking about this. I said the only man who can relate to what Virat Kohli is going through is Tendulkar,” Jadeja said on Sony SIX. “The only man who he should give a call and say, ‘let’s have a drink together. Have a nice meal’. Because who else, since starting at age 14 or 15, never had a bad patch? Only moved forward, and reached the heights Tendulkar had reached?”
“So, I can’t think of anyone else, because I believe that everything is in the mind. So, he is a call away from Tendulkar. I hope even if Virat doesn’t call… it’s actually Sachin who should give him a call. Sometimes, young people are in that phase. When you are older, since you have been through that, it’s your duty to make that call. I hope Master does that,” added Jadeja.
Kohli is going through his worst phase with the bat in his international career as he has consistently been inconsistent for quite a while now. He averages a meagre 25.20 across formats this year which is his lowest ever for a calendar year.
