Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek to play in the inaugural edition of the World Tennis League
Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek are the big names that are going to play in the inaugural World Tennis League, which is scheduled to be played from the 19th till the 24th of December. The venue for the tournament will be the United Arab Emirates. Along with huge Tennis stars like Djokovic and Swiatek, they will be joined by Alexander Zerev and Nick Kyrgios when it comes to the men’s players.
Talking about the women’s players, Simona Halep and Elena Rybakina are the other big-named players in the event. There will be a total of 16 players who will be split across four teams. The tournament will happen in the round-robin format.
A two-set format will be followed in both the singles category and the mixed doubles category. The winner of the final will be decided by a 10-point tiebreaker. The teams in the top 2 will face each other in the final. The slotting of the tournament has been done in such a way that the tennis cycle will not be affected. During this window not many tennis players play in tournaments because this period falls in the holiday season. The first Grand Slam of the season in 2023 will be the Australian Open, which will take place from the 16th to the 29th of January.
