Nasser Hussain feels England should learn to live without Ben Stokes

Nasser Hussain has recently spoken about the value of Ben Stokes as a cricketer. England recently announced its squad for the tour of India, which had some exciting new names. Stokes was named the captain of England for the big tour. While the availability of Stokes is still in doubt, the former English captain outlined the value of the All-rounder.

Nasser said that England has gotten a gem in Stokes, who is like a three-in-one cricketer. Nasser said that Stokes is a batter, a bowler, and a captain, which makes him an important cricketer. “Stokes is three cricketers in one, he’s a batter, a bowler and a captain which makes him a pivotal cricketer, especially in those conditions with his leadership qualities,” said Nasser.

Nasser expressed his concerns over Stokes’ bowling in the upcoming days. The English captain has not bowled for a long time now. The former English cricketer felt that the team must learn to play without Stokes. “I’m not sure how much Stokes is going to bowl in the future of his career. Stokes is such a main man for England, but they have to learn to live without him,” added Hussain.

Nasser felt that Stokes might not bowl a lot in his upcoming days. The former cricketer pointed out that Stokes has been struggling to bowl in the last 2 years. Hussain mentioned his observation that Stokes has not been able to bowl at full throttle, which would be a concern for the team, particularly while bowling for longer periods. Stokes last bowled full throttle in the T20 World Cup 2022.

“The reason he had the operation was to help him bowl more, but the last two years he’s been hobbling around and to a degree it’s affected his batting too. We’ve seen him play certain shots and then collapse. In a five-match Test series in the heat, you can’t afford that,” said Hussain. Stokes is undergoing surgery before the series against India. Fans would be hoping to see him back in action next year.
