Pakistan were totally outplayed by England due to a good collective performance by the England bowlers who skittled Pakistan down to a measly total of 156. The silver lining for Pakistan was Mohammad Rizwan, who scored a wonderful 68 from 46 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

While doing so, the right hander looked solid and, in the process, got to the milestone of 2000 runs in the T20 format in his 52nd innings. With that, he also became the joint fastest to get the landmark along with his Pakistani skipper Babar Azam.

He went past Virat Kohli (56), KL Rahul (58), and Aaron Finch (62), who were involved in a T20I which took place in Punjab in Mohali on Tuesday. Rizwan is now the joint fastest to the landmark along with his captain Babar Azam, who also got to the 2000-run mark in T20Is in 52 innings against Zimbabwe last year. Mohammad Rizwan topped the Asia Cup charts as the leading run getter in the Asia Cup. He was also the top run-getter in T20Is in 2021, with 1326 runs which he had accumulated in the space of 29 games.

Pakistan needs to sort out its problems against spin

Pakistan’s woes against spin were evident on Tuesday as the spin duo of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid got the batters into a tangle and they were not able to score runs freely. Pakistan also lacked a big hitter in the middle order as the punt to send Haider Ali at number three backfired. He was dismissed early on in his innings.

Due to this, there was a middle order collapse despite Pakistan having a solid foundation which was provided by the openers. No one else could stay on to build a partnership which proved to be the difference for the hosts. They were, eventually, kept down to a low total of 156. The chase was bright and breezy for the England side as they reached the target with four balls to spare.
