It looks like India is going to get the bigger share of the pie when it comes to the Cricket Governing Body. The Cricket Governing Body’s Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee would likely put together a group which would put forward a new revenue-sharing model. It is looking likely that the Indian Cricket Board is likely to get a whopping share of 37% of the Cricket Governing Body’s revenue if the proposal is implemented. This would be for the 2024-2027 cycle.

If this happens, this will be a big increase from the 22.2% share that the Indian Cricket Board used to receive from the previous cycle, between 2016-2023. In this cycle, the Indian Cricket Board got richer and had taken 405 Million USD. The Cricket Governing Body is of the opinion that the Indian market alone gets the Cricket Governing Body 75% of its revenue.

ZEE media group have taken the Television rights for World events in the 2024-2027 Cycle

“For the first time, the Cricket Governing Body decided to sell the rights territory-wise. In that, the India market alone fetched $3.04 billion. By Cricket Governing Body’s own ‘75% theory’, this $3.04 billion should be 75% of all their global revenues right? But do you think the rest of the world, collectively, is contributing 25%?” The Cricket Governing Body said on the sale of media rights for the 2023 to the 2027 cycle. When it comes to the Australian media rights they are sold for 60 Million Dollars over a four-year period.

When the rest of the World is taken as a unit, reports say that they are not able to generate US$500m for the Cricket Governing Body. “That means the Indian market alone is contributing 88 to 90% of Cricket Governing Body’s revenues. You go asking around in the industry and those who run the finances of the game will tell you — there was never any Big 3. There’s always been only Big 1″, as quoted by New 18.

When it comes to the 2024-27 cycle, Disney Star bagged both Digital and TV rights. But Disney Star and Zee brokered a licensing agreement when it came to the TV rights. This means that Zee will be able to telecast the World events in the U-19 circuit.
