The Esports World Cup 2024 set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia have announced Mobile Legends as its first title. It is set to be one of the biggest esports events for Mobile Legends.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is one of the most popular MOBA games for mobile devices. The event will feature a total of two MLBB tournaments. These are the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI).

Speaking to this collab, the head of the esports ecosystem at MOONTON Games, Ray Ng also spoke on the matter. He believes this is a new chapter for MLBB esports. He further expressed his excitement for the Esports World Cup Foundation.

“Alongside teams from new participating regions, this year’s iteration presents boundless opportunities for more regions to participate, in line with our vision to expand MSC and MWI to foster greater diversity and inclusiveness,” he also added.

MSC and MWI prize pools

The events will take place from July 1 to July 14. MSC will feature a massive prize pool of $3 million. This will now be the highest-ever prize pool for MLBB, breaking the previous record of $900,000 at the M5 World Championship.

MSC will feature teams from 14 regions along with a Wild Card format, similar to the M5. Indonesia, the Philippines, and MENA regions will receive two slots, while all others will get 1 slot.

On the other hand, MWI will also get a bump in its prize pool now featuring $500,000. This is due to the fact that it is one of the most-watched all-female esports tournaments.

A total of 12 regions will participate in the tournament. Mekong Region including Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam will have three slots while others will have 1. The format for the event is yet to be revealed.
