Chennai Super Kings have got themselves in hot soup at the moment. Right after reports surfaced of MS Dhoni carrying a knee injury, things now look far worse for the franchise. Sisanda Magala hurt his finger while taking a catch to dismiss Ravichandran Ashwin. Stephen Fleming said after the match that the South African bowler will be out for a couple of weeks due to the finger injury. It is likely that Matheesha Pathirana will replace him.

Ben Stokes is also warming the bench due to injury. Deepak Chahar is also sidelined for an indefinite period of time due to his hamstring injury in the game against Mumbai Indians. Left-arm seamer Mukesh Choudhary will also not take part in this tournament due to injury. The only positive news is that Stokes is being monitored closely and he should be back in action for CSK soon.

CSK have  not had the best of seasons in 2020 and 2022 in the IPL

CSK have won two games and has lost two. They will play three away fixtures against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders in the coming days. These will happen on April 17, 21 and 23. This means that CSK has got a busy schedule ahead of themselves and the injuries to key players will hamper their progress. CSK have won four titles in the Indian Premier League so far.

The MS Dhoni-led side has made it to the playoffs nine times. They did not have the best seasons in 2020 and 2022. In 2020, they finished 7th on the points table. The Yellove Army had six wins and eight losses. The 2020 edition was played in the UAE and CSK had a jolt because it was a huge change in conditions as compared to the Chepauk.

In 2o22, CSK’s campaign corresponded with a number of on-field and off-field problems. Ravindra Jadeja was made captain of the side. But Jadeja did not have a great season with bat and ball. The all-rounder was under the pump when it came to captaincy. Halfway through the tournament, MS Dhoni was reinstated back as captain. This caused a feud between CSK and Jadeja which was resolved later.
