India and Australia are bracing hard ahead of the Test series slated on February 9 and it remains to be seen if the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team would clinch the series given that it would be a challenging one unlike the Tests vs Bangladesh played in December 2022. The Indian team would leave no stone unturned to win the contest for the third consecutive time and make a cut to the summit clash of the Test championship set to be played later this year.

Australia are already in the finals and the Indian team would look to cement their place as well. That being said, Marnus Labuschagne, the Australian batter, opened up on facing star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and claimed that he is trying his best to adapt to the spinner’s technique and tackle him in the upcoming series.

“I’ve changed some of my game because of what I’ve heard about Ashwin and how he bowled to me. I’ve adapted my game to try and foil a few of his ideas and ways he goes about it. It’s going to be a lovely game of chess and I can’t wait for it,” Labuschagne was quoted as saying to cricket.com.au. Taking a dig at the same, the Rajasthan franchise posted an image of the duo and said that it is going to be a lovely game of chess and ended up getting a positive reply from the Australian batter as he wrote, “can’t wait”.

Ravi Shastri replies for claims about the pitch from Marnus Labuschagne and teammates

Ravi Shastri, the former team India head coach, opened up on the Nagpur pitch where the first Test will be played against the Baggy Greens and said that he expects the ball to turn right from Day 1. Further, the former Indian cricketer said that the questions regarding the pitch must be pointed at the pitch curators and not at the players who have no role to play in it whatsoever.

“I want the ball to turn from Day one! If you lose the toss, so be it. You want to see the ball turning a bit. Or something there for the bowlers on offer from Day one. It’s your strength. You’re playing at home. Capitalise on it,” Shastri was quoted as saying ahead of the first Test at Nagpur.
