Match 6 of The Hundred 2022 saw London Spirit squaring off against Manchester Originals. The match was primarily a one-sided encounter with London Spirit bossing over Manchester Originals as they won the match by 52 runs. The Hallowed Turf at Lord’s was the venue for the fixture. The Spirit’s captain Eoin Morgan called the coin right and choose to put runs on the board.

On a surface that was conducive to the bowlers, Morgan went against the norm and took a punt that paid off. London Sprit lost their first wicket when they had scored only nine runs. Zak Crawley and Glenn Maxwell then got together and took control to put on a decent partnership before Maxwell was dismissed. It was Morgan and Zak Crawley’s counterattack afterwards. The latter got out for 41 runs, while the former smoked three sixes and one boundary off the 26 deliveries he faced. He was dismissed against the run of play for a good inning of 37.

Kieron Pollard was in full flow as he smashed four sixes and a four off the eleven balls that he faced. The hard-hitting batter was in his zone and was showcasing some clean ball- striking at a strike rate of over 300. And he remained not out in the end while Ravi Bopara and Jordan Thompson went quickly to the pavilion from the other end.

At the end of the first innings, the Spirits put on 160 runs in their allotted hundred balls. Manchester Originals were never in the game while they were trying to get the runs. Skipper Jos Buttler was sent back by Thompson for just 6 runs. Wayne Madsen, Laurie Evans, Paul Walter, and Andre Russel were quickly sent back to the dugout as well. Philip Salt hung in and played a decent knock of 36 before he got out.

Jordan Thompson was the pick of the bowlers for London Sprit as he scalped 4 wickets and was complimented well by Liam Dawson and Mason Crane, who picked up 2 wickets each. Manchester was never in the game and had to face a heavy defeat of 52 runs due to the amazing bowling by the London Spirit bowlers.
