Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire had a memorable game in the T20 Blast. Warwickshire got lucky with the coin and they elected to bowl first. It was the best of starts for Nottinghamshire as Alex Hales departed early with just 18 runs on the board. Joe Clarke, at the other end, made 26 off 23 balls with three fours and one six. After Clarke fell to Jake Lintott, Lyndron James played a good knock at number three.

He hit 37 off 27 balls with four fours and one six. After he was scalped by Lintott, there was a mini collapse with wickets falling around. But wicket-keeper batter Tom Moores made 73 off 42 balls with six fours and four sixes. His innings was invaluable as it helped Nottinghamshire get to 168 in their 20 overs. Lintott and Hasan Ali picked up three wickets each in their respective four-over spells.

Warwickshire beat Nottinghamshire by 2 wickets in T20 Blast

Warwickshire had a stiff chase on their hands. In the second innings, it was all about Shaheen Afridi as the left-armer from Pakistan weaved his magic with the ball. He dismissed four of the five top-order batters in a fiery opening spell. The batters’ scores did not make good reading at all as they read 0,0,1 and 0. Shaheen also broke the world record for taking most wickets in the first over of a T20 innings. When Shaheen achieved the remarkable feat there were a lot of reactions on social media.

Here is the video:

Even as wickets were falling around him in the second innings, Robert Yates made a cracking 65 off 46 balls with three fours and five sixes. Lower order batters Jacob Bethell and Lintott hit unbeaten knocks 27 off 21 balls with three fours and 27 off 22 balls with three fours, respectively. In the end, Warwickshire made 172-8 to overhaul Nottinghamshire’s target of 169.

Shaheen also was declared the Player of the Match for his outstanding figures of 4-29 in his four overs. Jake Ball also picked up 3-33 in his four overs spell, but in the end, it was in vain as Warwickshire outclassed Nottinghamshire by two wickets. Warwickshire are leading the North Group table in the T20 Blast with 20 points in 13 games.
