Defending Champions Gujarat Titans continued their winning momentum in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League as they defeated the five-time champions Mumbai Indians by a huge margin of 55 runs in match number 35 of the season at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Batting first, GT posted a total of 207 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, MI could only score 152 runs losing 9 wickets.

GT lost Wriddhiman Saha early in the third over at a score of 12 runs. After that, Shubman Gill and the skipper Hardik Pandya took the innings further by adding 38 runs for the second wicket. After Pandya’s dismissal, Gill added 41 runs with Vijay Shankar for the third wicket.

Gill got out after scoring 56 runs off 34 balls, hitting seven fours and a maximum. After that, David Miller and Abhinav Manohar took charge of the innings by putting up a partnership of 71 runs for the fifth wicket. Manohar got out after smashing 42 off 21 balls with three fours and three sixes, while Miller lost his wicket after scoring 46 off 22, hitting two fours and four sixes.

Rahul Tewatia added the finishing touches to the innings by smashing 20 runs off just 5 deliveries, hitting three sixes and helping GT to go past 200. For MI, Piyush Chawla scalped 2 wickets by conceding 34 runs in his four overs, while Arjun Tendulkar, Jason Behrendorff, Rely Meredith and Kumar Kartikeya shared a wicket each.

MI didn’t have a great start chasing the massive total as they lost their skipper Rohit Sharma at the score of 4 runs in two overs. After that, Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green added 39 runs for the second wicket. After that, MI went on to lose wickets at regular intervals and could never make a comeback in the match. Green got out after scoring 33 runs off 26 balls, while Nehal Wadhera turned out to be the highest scorer for MI as he got out after scoring 40 runs off 21 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes.

At last, MI fell short of 55 runs from GT’s total. For GT, Noor Ahmed took 3 wickets conceding 37 runs in his four overs. While Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma shared 2-2 wickets and Pandya put 1 in his bag.
