India took an unassailable 2-1 lead in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. In the first innings, the bowlers stepped up to the plate and changed the game for the Men in Blue as Sri Lanka collapsed from 102-2 to 216 all out. Mohammed Siraj picked up 3-30 in 5.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav picked up 3-51 in his 10 overs and dried up the scoring rate in the middle overs for Sri Lanka.

Kuldeep also chipped in with the bat and scored 10 runs off 10 balls in the end with two fours. After the game, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal bonded over an interview in which Chahal asked questions to Kuldeep on Chahal TV.

Chahal first congratulated Kuldeep on getting 200 wickets in ODI cricket and asked him about how he felt, to which Kuldeep replied that he was not aware of this fact, but he felt proud of reaching the landmark. The wrist-spinning duo shifted focus to batting where Chahal talked about Kuldeep’s cut shot. Kuldeep in his short innings hit a cut shot that went for four.

Kuldeep then thanked Chahal for the inputs that he gave on how to bowl at the wicket in Eden Gardens before Chahal concluded the interview and wished his partner all the success and then told the viewers that the duo will back at Thiruvananthapuram for the third ODI.

Kuldeep replaced Chahal in the second ODI at Kolkata. Chahal recorded figures of 1-58 in his 10 overs at Guwahati in the first ODI where the game was a high-scoring encounter between the two sides. The duo was instrumental in getting wickets for India in the middle overs before they were separated after the 2019 World Cup to bolster India’s batting in the lower order.

India will play three ODIs and three T20Is against New Zealand next before they will face Australia at home in a four-match Test series for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Australia last faced India in 2016-17 where India won a closely fought Test series 2-1 with comeback wins at Bengaluru and Dharamshala after Australia took a 1-0 lead in Pune.
