Netherlands and USA locked horns in the Round of 16 match in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 hosted by Qatar on December 3, Saturday and it was the former’s game as they dominated the match right from the start. To add more to the first half, it was all about the Oranje as they completely outplayed their opponents and kept creating opportunities, while USA looked completely out of form.
The team looked lost amidst a fiery fight shown by Netherlands, who managed to score 2 goals at the end of the first half. Concerning the first half, Memphis Depay opened the account for his team on the back of a stupendous effort in the 10th minute and produced the much-needed lead for the Oranje. Eventually, Daley Blind backed his teammate in the extra time post the 45-minute mark and doubled the lead, making things tougher for USA.

As far as the second half is concerned, Netherlands carried on their momentum and started putting USA on the back foot right away. While many predicted a clean sheet, USA’s star player Haji Wright scored the first-ever goal for his team and created hope for the Americans to make a comeback. Denzel Dumfries produced the winning goal for Netherlands on the back of a stupendous effort in the 81st minute.
Eventually, after 90 minutes of non-stop action, the Oranje sealed the game with a scoreline of 3-1 and continued their run in the ongoing multinational tournament. On the other hand, it was a heartbreak for USA and the Americans as they gave it their all to make a cut to the knockouts, only to end against Netherlands on Saturday, in a humiliating way.
