Kojima Productions is working on a new Espionage type game

Hideo Kojima is one of the most popular video game developers who founded Kojima Productions. The studio’s first game ‘Death Stranding’ received a lot of praise for its movie-style storytelling in a video game. For many others, it did get a little confusing.

Now, he is working on the sequel to Death Stranding, along with another horror game called OD in early development. The most recent State of Play livestream revealed new gameplay/story footage for Death Stranding 2.

A surprise announcement

However, Death Stranding 2 wasn’t the only announcement from Kojima Productions during State of Play. In a separate short video, Kojima revealed that he will be entering the ‘Tactical Espionage Action’ genre once again.

As per the announcement, the game is yet to start its production phase. The current title for the game is ‘Physint’. Nothing more is currently known about the game except that it will be an Espionage game. For those who have played the MGS games by Kojima will know it’s going to be good.

Those who have been playing video games for a very long time will know what Kojima is talking about. This is not the first time he has dived into the ‘Action – Espionage’ genre. In fact, he is arguably one of the people who popularized this.

Kojima leaving the genre

Kojima was the brains behind the popular video game franchise, ‘Metal Gear Solid’ during his time with Konami. After the production was almost complete, there were some disagreements with Kojima and Konami leading to Kojima leaving the company.

Since then, he has not delved into the action espionage genre too much. However, the most recent announcement has fans excited about what Kojima is cooking. The studio now has three games in development.
