Virat Kohli scored his 48th ODI century as India won the game in Pune by 7 wickets. The win meant that India now has four wins in the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. India will next play New Zealand who are on top of the table just above India on run-rate.

The Indian team got the win in the 42nd over to spark huge celebrations across the stand. For the Bangladeshi team, this was another loss as they now are on the brink of an early exit from the tournament. This was their third loss in four games of the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign.

India lost their fourth toss in a row as they were asked to bowl. Shakib Al Hasan wasn’t fit for the game and was replaced by Nazmul Hossain Shanto as the skipper. The Indian team went in with the same team as the one that played against Pakistan on Saturday.

Virat Kohli’s century helps India win the game –

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a blazing start by adding 88 runs for the 1st wicket. The Indian skipper was looking good for another huge score before he was out for 48 runs from 40 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Shubman Gill got into the groove as he raced past his 6th ODI fifty for the year. The 24-year-old was out for 53 runs from 55 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Gill and Kohli added 44 runs for the second wicket. Shreyas Iyer fell after scoring just 19 runs before KL Rahul and Kohli finished the game off.

The former Indian skipper was in an aggressive mood right from the start. With India needing 15 runs, Virat Kohli was batting on 85. KL Rahul let the 34-year-old take as many strikes as possible to score his century. This was Kohli’s third ODI World Cup ton and his first since the 2015 World Cup where he scored 107 against Pakistan in Adelaide.

Earlier Litton Das with 66 and Tanzid Hasan with 51 helped Bangladesh reach 256 from their 50 overs. Mahmudullah swung his bat to score 46 towards the back end of the innings. Hardik Pandya had limped out of the field while attempting to stop a ball. The 30-year-old’s status is confirmed to be not serious after the scans performed on his leg.
