India will start the new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) with the two Test matches series against the West Indies. The first Test will start at 7:30 pm on 12 July in Roseau at Dominica at Windsor Park. The Men in Blue will look to dominate the proceedings in the Caribbean and start off on a winning note. The second Test will be held at Port of Spain in Trinidad.
India will want to move on from the hammering they received at the hands of Australia at the WTC 2023 final where the Kangaroos beat them by 209 runs. Ahead of the series, here is what Virat Kohli said: “Caribbean is where it all started, good to be back here, especially after playing 100 Tests, I never imagined – we all looked up Rahul bhai, we are blessed, only two members from 2011, life has come full circle & it has been amazing”.
Meanwhile, the Indian Team launched their Jersey with the new lead sponsors. While Addidas is the apparel sponsor, Dream 11 became the new principal sponsor of the Indian Team after Ed Tech firm Byju’s ended the contract before their full tenure. On the other hand, the West Indies will want to make a statement by beating India in the two-match Test series that will be played in home conditions. The Men in Maroon failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup in India.
They have two new faces in the squad for the first Test against India. The two southpaws in Krik McKenzie and Alick Athanaze will want to prove a point if they get a chance. Also, on another note, Rahkeem Cornwall and Jomel Warrican have made comebacks into the Test side. They will add more heft and give more flexibility in terms of bowling options. The Men in Blue will want to get their batting right and also bowl tight to get a good outcome unlike the WTC final. All said and done it will be a very exciting Test series to watch out for.
