Sunrisers Hyderabad faced a stern test in their last home game of the season as they played the Royal Challengers Bangalore. A win today was crucial for RCB as they are still in the running for the playoffs which will be played next week. Faf Du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl first and his bowling did him justice at least in the powerplay by dismissing the openers with an average score on the board. But then the SRH innings was taken over by Heinrich Klaasen.
Heinrich Klaasen was the focus of the entire SRH innings. He was batting well and truly above the rest of this lineup, which has battled to be consistent, from the very first ball. The rest of them just had to avoid him, and, it must be admitted, they weren’t doing a very good job of it. But the South African wicketkeeper batter had a fantastic innings.
He made RCB pay for failing to bowl pace toward him more frequently. It was impressive to see how cleanly he struck the ball against the spinners. Despite collecting two wickets in his first over, Faf chose not to go to Bracewell regardless of the fact that Shahbaz and Karn were annihilated. Heinrich Klaasen’s nonchalant hundred took the SRH side to an above-par score of 186 in their 20 overs.
