The legendary India batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the fourth Test match against England, scheduled to begin on February 23 in Ranchi. Despite being included in the India squad for the remaining three Tests, his participation was contingent upon his fitness. However, Rahul failed to recover fully from his injury and was subsequently excluded from the Rajkot Test as well.

In addition to it, the Karnataka batter, Devdutt Padikkal, who was drafted in as KL Rahul’s replacement for the Rajkot Test, will remain in the squad. Initially reported as being ‘90% fit’ before the third Test, the India Cricket Board has officially stated that Rahul has not yet fully recovered. Whether he will be available for the fifth Test is contingent upon his fitness.

Moreover, during the first Test match in Hyderabad, Rahul had reported pain in his right quadriceps, leading to his exclusion from the second game in Visakhapatnam. With KL Rahul sidelined, it’s probable that wicketkeeper-batter Rajat Patidar will retain his spot in the Playing XI for the fourth Test.

Jasprit Bumrah released from squad for 4th Test

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been granted leave from the squad for the fourth Test against England, scheduled to commence on Thursday, February 23 at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. The decision was made by the Indian cricket board with consideration for Bumrah’s workload in elite cricket. On Tuesday, as the Indian team arrived in Ranchi, Bumrah was noticeably absent.

“Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th IDFC First Bank Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and amount of cricket he has played in recent times,” the India Cricket Board wrote in a statement.

The talismanic India bowler recently rose to the rank of No.1 Test bowler following his exceptional performance in the Vizag Test, currently leads the wicket-taking charts in the 5-match series with 17 dismissals to his credit.
