Led by Australia’s Meg Lanning, the Delhi Franchise have registered their fifth win in the Women’s T20 League as they crushed Mumbai by 9 wickets. This iss Mumbai’s second consecutive loss in the tournament after five back-to-back wins. However, Mumbai have already secured their place in the top three.

Batting first at the DY Patil stadium, Mumbai could only score 109 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Mumbai lost the first 3 wickets for just 10 runs inside 4 overs. After that, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur added a few runs but couldn’t take the innings further and out after scoring 23 runs off 26 balls hitting three boundaries.

Mumbai kept losing wickets at regular intervals,but due to Pooja Vastrakar’s (26 off 19) and Issa Wong’s (23 off 24) contributions in the end they were able to cross the 100-run mark. Shikha Pandey, Jess Jonassen and Marizanne Kapp scalped 2-2 wickets each for Delhi.

Bangalore and Gujarat are out of the race for top three

Chasing 110 runs, skipper Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma gave a firing start to Delhi as they added 56 runs for the first wicket in 4.3 overs. Shafali got out after smashing 33 runs off just 15 balls hitting six fours and a maximum. While Lanning remained unbeaten on 32 off 22 hitting four fours and one six, along with Alice Capsey’s fiery 38 off 17 with one four and five maximums. Delhi scored 110 runs losing one wicket and 66 balls to spare. Hayley Matthews was the only wicket-taker for Mumbai

UP have also joined Delhi and Mumbai in the top three by defeating Gujarat by 3 wickets in a nail-biting match before. Gujarat scored 178 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, powered by the half-centuries by Ashleigh Gardner (60 off 39) and Dayalan Hemalatha (57 off 33). The match went down to the last over as UP chased the winning total by losing 7 wickets with one ball remaining. Grace Harris scored 72 off 41 while Tahil Mcgrath got out after scoring 57 off 38. This also means that Bangalore and Gujarat are out of the race of the top three.
