It is reported that former India skipper Sourav Ganguly‘s role will be played by Bollywood star, Ranbir Kapoor. The former captained the Indian team from 2000 to 2005. He played for India from 1996 to 2008 in which he played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs. Across both formats, he scored more than 18000 runs. Apart from this, Ganguly served as the Indian Cricket Board president from late 2019 to late 2022.
Meanwhile, Kapoor is reportedly locked to play the former India captain while the star cast is yet to be finalized. LUV Films will produce the film. The production house took to Twitter to announce the development. They wrote ‘We are thrilled to announce that Luv Films will produce Dada Sourav Ganguly’s biopic. Meanwhile, talking about Ranbir is currently busy promoting another film with Shraddha Kapoor. It is said that after the film’s promotion and its release, he might start preparing for the role.
Sourav Ganguly to return to Delhi side as director for Indian T20 League 2023
Before being elected as the president of the Indian Cricket Board, the left-hander was working with the Delhi team as a director in the Indian T20 League. However, after becoming the president, he had to leave the role to avoid a conflict of interest. Meanwhile, now that he has been ousted and replaced by Roger Binny, Ganguly can now rejoin the national capital-based team.
On the other hand, he will take care of the Pretoria Capitals (SA20) and Dubai Capitals (ILT20), the Capitals’ vertical teams. At this point, Ganguly would have to take care of the Indian T20 League side only. Tournaments such as SA20 and ILT20 have been concluded. Meanwhile, the fans are divided after it was reported that Ranbir would play Sourav in the latter’s biopic.
