Australia is currently leading 2-0 in Ashes 2023 after a good Test match at the home of Cricket. Both the teams tried their best to entertain the fans with their Cricket. Many of the players gave their best on the field which accounted for memorable moments in the Test. But the major talking point after the Test has been the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow and the argument between the spirit and the rules of the game. English and Australian supporters have different opinions about the incident.

While English supporters believe that Jonny left the crease thinking that it was a dead ball, Australian supporters argue that Alex Carey stumped Bairstow as the batter stepped out of the crease. The third umpire declared it out and soon the home crowd started booing and abusing the Australian players. Though the focus shifted towards Ben Stokes’ innings, the crowd was visibly disappointed over the dismissal of Bairstow. The disappointment has turned to anger since then.

Anthony Albanese’s reaction to the incident

The talking point has reached new heights, as the Australian Prime Minister has reacted to the incident and the accusations of England over the Australian players. An avid follower of the game himself, Anthony Albanese has shown his support to the Australian team. Reacting to the incident, the Prime minister said: “Australia is right behind Pat Cummins and his team. The same old Aussies – always winning”. Albanese has backed the Australian team to win the series.

It’s interesting to see that the Australian Prime minister has reacted to the stumping of Jonny Bairstow. Earlier, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had also commented on the incident. Sunak accused the Australian players of not following the spirit of the game. The fans are happy that some big personalities like the Australian and British Prime ministers are also following the sport. In the third Test of the series, England is in a must-win situation if they want to stay in the series.
