The England Team have somehow reached a position in the 4th Test of the series against India where they have suddenly lost control. England had put 353 runs on the back of a wonderful century by Joe Root in the first innings. The Indians still have come back in the game, despite being in a precarious position on day 2. England only managed to miss out on a much bigger lead and struggle in the second innings, where they could only manage to give the hosts a target of 192.

There has been a lot of talk about the DRS decisions in this series. Even England skipper Ben Stokes has been vocal about it. There have been a lot of speculations made by the England team and experts on some of the decisions. The big issue was the dismissal of Root in the second innings. Some of the players thought that the trajectory was going down the leg, but the Hawkeye showed that it was comfortably crashing into the leg stump.

Michael Vaughan’s criticism

England Ashes winning skipper Michael Vaughan after being upset about the Root decision has still given out some criticism regarding the England team. Vaughan has stated, “ I understand how in the high-pressure environment of a massive Test series the world can feel like it’s against you, but it’s not why England are in the situation they find themselves in this game or this series.”

Vaughan further added that despite the decision of Root was marginal, England had let the game slip saying “ That is because, just like in Rajkot, on moving day, day three, they let the game slip. They need to think long and hard about why that is happening, and it is really not because of DRS, even if Joe Root is a very important player and his decision today was very marginal.” These words signify that England are currently in this position because they failed to capitalise on their opportunities.
