During the Under-19 World Cup 2022, Dewald Brevis was the player who went on to impress everyone with his batting abilities. His shot-making ability made him a class apart from the others.  Hence, the Mumbai franchise opted for him in the mega auction for the Indian T20 Leauge 2022

Speaking about that World Cup, he scored 506 runs in six innings at an average of 84.33.  It made him the highest run-scorer in the history of a single edition of the Under-19 World Cup. He also picked up seven wickets in the same number of matches throughout that tournament. His highest score of 138 runs came against the Bangladesh Under-19 team.

He really backs you and there’s no pressure he puts on you.” – Dewald Brevis

Speaking about his experience of getting an opportunity to play under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, he shared that every player dreams to play under such a captain. No matter what, Rohit backs his players and lets players enjoy it by being normal on the field. His statement got shared by a cricket fan on the Twitter account.

Here is the official Tweet:

He said: “I think it’s a player’s dream to play under Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy. He really backs you and there’s no pressure he puts on you. He wants you to go out there and enjoy it and to be yourself and to have fun on the field.”

Mumbai gave him the platform to showcase his talent and he came up with some decent innings throughout the tournament. Brevis also added that Rohit always allows his players to enjoy. Brevis had a decent season with the Mumbai franchise as he scored 161 runs in seven innings at an average of 23.00. His short cameos showed some glimpses of former Proteas batter AB De Villiers in his style and thus, he is called the Baby Ab.

At the business end of the tournament, he failed to make it to the final XI as Mumbai went with a new combination of players for getting results. As per reports, he is tipped to play for South Africa in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia. However, he is yet to make his debut for the National Team.
