The Indian Team’s next big assignment is the Asia Cup. The continental tournament will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka for the first time in a hybrid model. Nine games will take place in Sri Lanka and four games will take place in Pakistan. Ahead of the multilateral tournament, there were some important updates for India according to the Times of India.
The report states that Sanju Samson would be dropped from the Asia Cup squad. The squad might be announced after the first T20I against Ireland. KL Rahul is close to full fitness and was batting and keeping recently. Shreyas Iyer is not in the best physical condition as compared to Rahul. Recently, Jay Shah and Rahul Dravid had a two-hour meeting in the USA. India lost the 5-match T20I series 3-2 to the Men in Maroon. The Asia Cup would be one opportunity for India to zero in on their final squad ahead of World Cup 2023.
The Indian ODI Team has been in indifferent form. The Rohit Sharma-led side lost 2-1 to Australia in an ODI series at home before the start of the 2023 IPL. They recently beat the West Indies 2-1 in ODIs. Rohit and Virat Kohli did not play all the ODIs. The Indian Captian batted out of position in the first ODI and finished the game for India. Kohli did not get to bat in the three 50-over games. The World Cup will be held in 10 venues in India.
The Men in Blue will want to create history come the big event like they did in 2011. India have not won a World event since the Champions Trophy in 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The Men in Blue have won two ODI World Cups so far in their rich cricketing history. When we talk about the next assignment for the Indian T20 side it is a three-match series against Ireland.
Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna will be making a comeback in the series from injury. There are other names who would want to score big runs and stake a permanent claim in the Indian T20 side. India will want to get their combinations right ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA.

This is the reason why india is not winning any icc trophy, because they drop a player in one format because of failure in another format and they pick a player in one format because of good record in another format.
India is following this same approach since 2016.— Siddhant Jain (@Siddhant_J5656) August 17, 2023

stop gap use & throw policy should stop, unless they are not up to the expectations, did injured players play any domestic game & prove fitness before walking into national side. When will Indian cricket become professional.

Why Sanju Samson likely to be dropped ? He did OK in ODIs if not great, just two match failure and you are not dropped but SKY with 3 consecutive ZERO will be part of the squad but Sanju would not, how fair is this ?
Some jokers are running Indian Cricket now. Very Sad.— Vicky (@CricVikky) August 17, 2023

I dont care frankly who's in or out. India should not be embarrassed in the tournament. That's the bottom line. We need impossible wins and aggression like anything. These days even Modi and Rahul have higher aggression than our cricketers!
