The Duleep Trophy has been great to watch. There are two semifinals being played simultaneously at the KSCA Ground in Alur and at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Central Zone and West Zone played it out in a low-scoring semi-final. West Zone won the toss and opted to bat. West Zone folded up for 220 in the first innings. Atit Seth scored 74 off 129 balls with nine fours and one six. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja also made 39 off 91 balls with three fours and one six.

When it came to Central Zone, Shivam Mavi had the match of his life as he picked up 6-43 in his 19.5 overs spell. It was a spell to be remembered as the Central Zone skipper made the West Zone batters dance to his tunes. In the second innings, wickets fell again as at the time of writing Central Zone are 87-5 in 23 overs. Dhruv Jurel made a cracking 46 off 55 balls with seven fours. It was a captain’s spell from Mavi as he showed that he could step up for the big occasion.

There were a lot of fans who were asking why Mavi did not make the cut to the Indian T20I squad against West Indies after he had played the last T20I series against Sri Lanka at home under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. The Indian squad for the T20Is against the West Indies was announced on Wednesday.
