England and Senegal faced off against each other in the FIFA World Cup 2022, hosted by Qatar, in the Round of 16 stage and it turned out to be a hard-fighting game for both teams. To add more, the first half was all about the Three Lions as they outclassed their opponents and ruled the game. Eventually, England held possession for two-thirds of the first 45 minutes and proved their prowess, while Senegal, on the other hand, were giving it their all to take the lead and refrain from conceding one to the English camp.

However, things did not go according to plan for both teams as they remained goalless and helpless throughout the first-half phase, given that the Three Lions were considered to be the early favourites to win the game. However, much to the surprise of the English fans, their star player Jordan Henderson, opened the account in the 38th minute and put Senegal on the back foot. Eventually, Harry Kane, another star player from the Three Lions, backed his teammate and doubled the lead in the extra time past the 45-minute mark.

As things stand, the scoreline remained at 2-0 at the stroke of the first-half whistle, and fans awaited a strong second half. The Lions of Teranga, on the other hand, looked clueless and were of low morale, on the back of the goal that they conceded earlier in the half.

As far as the second half is concerned, England were brimming with confidence and eventually carried on the momentum from the initial 45 minutes. Bukayo Saka, another renowned English player, tripled the lead in the 57th minute, making things tougher for the Senegalese team who stared at a possible exit.

Eventually, at the stroke of the final whistle, it was the mighty English side who won the game with a scoreline of 3-0 and cemented their place in the quarter-finals of the game. The Three Lions would hope to carry on with the momentum and seal their place in the summit clash to be played on December 18.
