The India vs England series has started well for the hosts from the first day itself first from the bowling attack getting England all out for 246 and then with bat in hand where they sitting on 119 for the loss of just 1 wicket. The England team on the other hand have had the worst possible starts where there was no major contribution with the bat aside from the great half-century by Ben Stokes, who got his side out of trouble when they were facing a disaster in the innings. The bowling attack though didn’t turn up on day 1 with all of them going for plenty except for Jack Leach who was looking slightly better than the others

Even though it was a great effort by the bowlers to bowl out England, it was Yashasavi Jaiswal who proved to be the star of the day. The 22-year-old Southpaw scored 76 from just 70 deliveries taking on every England bowler he was up against. It was the English batters who were expected to dominate in this style of play, however, Jaiswal has beaten them to the game with this knock where he was striking at over 100 playing almost a T20 style of innings. Jaiswal is looking good for a really big score in this contest and we hope he gets there on day 2.

Axar Patel pleased with the young man

India all-rounder Axar Patel also made a great contribution in the match as well and he took a couple of big wickets to put the visitors on the back foot. Axar also enjoyed the swashbuckling innings of Jaiswal and praised the young batter for this positive approach. He opened up with his experience in the conference saying “We enjoyed the way Yashasvi was batting and he took on the spinners from the very first over”. He further said that it was a good sign to see the batters unsettled straight away after the onslaught of Jaiswal on them.

These words were just a glimpse of what everyone witnessed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, where Jaiswal was going after the spin attack that included Jack Leach, Rehan Ahmed and Tom Hartley. Jaiswal was just dominating the bowlers with his expansive drives and slogs early in his innings that pegged the English bowling attack. This was already an innings of a lifetime to witness and it is not done yet considering there are still 4 more days to go and a lot of batting left in the Indian team.
