Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes has made a prediction that India will win the ODI World Cup 2023 at home. The tournament will be played in October and November this year. The Men In Blue is in dire need of winning a World Championship since 2013. Around 10 years ago, the then-MS Dhoni-led side won the Champions Trophy in England with a relatively young side.

Two years before this, the team full of stars such as Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, etc won the ODI World Cup in India. 12 years after this, the team is still looking for a World Cup win. With the upcoming tournament to be played in India, the team will be a contender to win the tournament.

However, it won’t be easy for them. After all, since 2014, the team has either lost the semis or the final of every championship. The only title they won is the Asia Cup in 2016 and 2018. Not to forget, they lost the 20-20 World Cup 2022 semis to eventual title winners, England. These are the reasons the fans aren’t impressed with Rhodes calling India favorites for the upcoming World Cup.

Jonty Rhodes will be the fielding coach of Punjab during the Indian T20 League 2023

Meanwhile, the former South Africa player will once again be the fielding coach of the Punjab team for the Indian T20 League 2023. Since 2020 season, he has been working with the likes of Anil Kumble (former Head coach), Wasim Jaffer (former batting coach), etc. Now, the team has replaced Kumble with Trevor Bayliss. Notably, Jaffer has returned for another stint as a batting coach.

Apart from this, Brad Haddin will assist Bayliss and former South Africa pacer, Charl Langeveldt will be the bowling coach.
