If Ravindra Jadeja is cleared by the medical team, he will anyway make it to the playing 11. However, if Rahul was available, Jadeja’s inclusion would have come at the expense of a bowler. But in the current scenario, the captain and coach could look to play Jadeja in the middle order, given his credentials as a batter in Test cricket.
Jadeja has an average of 36.16 in the longest format of the game and that goes up when we consider only Tests in India. His stats have been better than even some of the specialist batters. Jadeja’s inclusion in the middle order will provide India with a left-handed option and it will also allow India to play an extra bowler. Hence, this could be an option that the management explores.
