As the closing date for player retention along with release approaches, there is conjecture regarding a significant deal involving two Indian Premier League (IPL) teams. All this is taking place before the much anticipated IPL 2024 mini-auction. The auction is scheduled to take place on December 19 in Dubai. The deadline for player transactions is November 26th, by which time the teams must turn in their retention lists.

Although conversations are still in progress and agreements have not yet been confirmed. There are rumours that an IPL team’s captain may be moved this week, according to a Cricbuzz article. Within the following two days, the result is anticipated to be made public. Notably, none of the two clubs involved has commented on the reported transfer.

The reigning champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are preparing to release three more players to the auction to increase their estimated value of INR 30 crore, in the middle of these happenings. 

Alongside Ben Stokes’s (INR 16.25) official release, veteran Ambati Rayudu (INR 6.75) declared his retirement from the IPL previous season ensures the franchise will have more money. Dwaine Pretorius of South Africa, Sisanda Magala of South Africa, and Kyle Jamieson of New Zealand will also be released by the MS Dhoni-led team.

Players like Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Harry Brook, Sam Curran,as well as Shardul Thakur might be released by other clubs. There have been reports that the Delhi Capitals would be looking to make a massive trade move in the upcoming days. However, the management has been tight-lipped about this move.

Players to look-out for during IPL Auction 2024

Top players from the recently finished ODI World Cup will also be up for grabs at the December auction. These include Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Rachin Ravindra, as well as Daryl Mitchell.

It is generally expected that at the next mini-auction, up to 50 members will be purchased. The five-match Test series involving India and England will end on March 11. After that, IPL 2024 is scheduled to start in the middle of March.
