India captain Rohit Sharma has a completely different point of view than Virat Kohli over five dedicated Test venues in India. While addressing the media on the eve of the Indore Test, Rohit said that restricting Tests to certain venues will hinder its growth in the country.

Rohit justified his point of view by claiming that to promote the longest format of the game, it has to be taken to all corners of the country. Ahead of the Indore Test, Rohit said, “If you want to promote Test cricket, it should be played in every part of the country and not restrict it to just a handful of big centers.”

Back in 2017, then India captain Virat Kohli suggested that India should play Tests at dedicated venues and host important series on a rotation basis. Kohli believed that it would build a good season like other countries.

“We’ve been discussing this for a long time now, and in my opinion, we should have five Test centers, period,” Kohli had said, after the conclusion of the Ranchi Test.

“I mean, I agree [with] state associations and rotation and giving games and all that, that is fine for T20 and one-day cricket, but Test cricket, teams coming to India should know, ‘we’re going to play at these five centers, these are the pitches we’re going to expect, these are the kind of people that will come to watch, crowds’,” the former India captain further added.

India is in deep trouble in Third Test
