Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja feels that if Pakistan wants to make “world headlines”, they will have to beat England in the upcoming Test Series at home. Talking to reporters at the Gaddafi stadium after the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final on Tuesday, Ramiz also made it clear that he had not given up on the idea of having drop-in pitches for the big centres in Pakistan.

“I have given just one message to the players that if they want to make world headlines they have to beat England in the series,” he said.

The former captain further said that the present Pakistan team has the potential of beating England but a lot will depend on the kind of pitches both teams get in the series.

“When Australia came earlier this year the pitches were freshly laid so they played differently but now they have settled down quite a bit and we are expecting more sporting tracks against England,” Ramiz said.

The PCB chief also said that hosting Australia, England and New Zealand in one season is a big boost for Pakistan cricket and hoped the tour by England would be concluded successfully.

Ramiz also said that he was happy to see the response of the English players after they landed in Pakistan.

Pakistan vs England Test Series to start on 1st December in Rawalpindi

England Cricket team arrived in Pakistan on Sunday to play three Tests in the country for the first time since 2005. The three lions recently toured Pakistan for a seven-match T20I series before the 20-20 World Cup but haven’t played a Test Match in the country since 2005 due to security concerns. They were due to visit Pakistan last year but pulled out after New Zealand abandoned their tour minutes before the first one-day international, citing security alerts.

Pakistan were forced to play their home matches on the neutral venues of the United Arab Emirates following a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009. However, the country has recovered from the horrors of 2009 and has hosted multiple teams in the last seven years, the most notable being Australia earlier this year.

England and Pakistan will be playing a three-match Test series that starts in Rawalpindi on December 1 while the second Test will be played in Multan (December 9-13) and the third will be in Karachi (December 17-21).
