The 4th T20I between England and Pakistan took place at the National Stadium in Karachi on Sunday. England won the toss and choose to bowl. Pakistan was provided with a solid start by Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, who scored 88 from 67 balls, with 9 boundaries and 1 six, and 36 from 28 balls, with 3 boundaries. They took the score to 97 and put England on the back foot.
Recce Topley and Liam Dawson brought England back into the game by taking the wickets of Rizwan and the Pakistan skipper. Shan Masood came in at number three and scored a laborious 21 from 19 balls, with 1 boundary. Khushdil Shah came and went for just 2 as he was dismissed by Topley. Asif Ali and Mohammad Navaz stayed at the end with Asif Ali hitting a couple of lusty blows, which ended Pakistan’s innings on a high. Pakistan ended their innings on 166 for 4.
In the second innings, England got off to a horrendous start losing Phil Salt and Alex Hales with a score of just 13. Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Hasnain dismissed the two to trouble England at the start. Will Jacks was immediately dismissed for a duck off Mohammad Hasnain. With the score at 14-3, there would have been some nervous faces in the England camp, but Ben Duckett and Harry Brook calmed the nerves with a timely partnership.
Both of them got into the 30s and hit 7 boundaries and 1 six between them. After they were dismissed, England was helped by contributions down the order from the two all-rounders Moeen Ali and Liam Dawson, who scored 29 from 20 balls, with 3 boundaries and 1 six, and 34 from 17 balls, with 5 fours and 1 six.
Even though the 18th over cost 24 off the bowling of Hasnain and England were in the pilot seat, Harris Rauf turned the game to Pakistan’s favour by scalping 2 wickets in two balls. The wickets were off Liam Dawson and Olie Stone. Mohammed Wasim Jr followed it up with 2 good balls in the 20th over to give Pakistan a heist and a close win on home soil.
