India was dealt a huge blow when the news came out that Jasprit Bumrah had been ruled out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 due to injury. The ace of pace for India was ruled out of the mega event in Australia due to a back injury.

The frontrunners to replace India’s pace spearhead were Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami. According to reports, Mohammed Shami is tipped to be the man who will replace Bumrah. The above bowlers are in the reserves for Team India.

Speaking on the same, Parthiv Patel said that Shami is the right man to replace Jasprit Bumrah and that he should don the T20I colours for India. He will be a vital part of the Men in Blue in the 20-20 World Cup, said Patel. He also gave big news on Shami.

Speaking to Cricbuzz he gave out the update saying that, “Most likely I feel in this squad, Mohammad Shami will replace Jasprit Bumrah. Hopefully, because we have 20 days to go and he has almost recovered from Covid-19. Before the World Cup, India will play two practice matches in Perth, then vs Australia, and vs New Zealand. So he will get match-time. According to me, he deserves a place. I feel he is the frontrunner.”

The Rohit Sharma-led side won a closely fought T20I series against South Africa 2-1. They will be hoping to get acclimatized to the conditions and perform well in the practice games to build some momentum coming into the 20-20 World Cup.

We need to keep working and keep finding answers to it: Rohit Sharma

After the third T20I against South Africa, Rohit said that it would be ideal for India if they get a bowler who has had prior experience playing in Australia so that it will be helpful for the team when they play in those conditions.

Rohit without giving too much information about Bumrah’s replacement said that- “It’s a work in progress, we need to keep working and keep finding answers to it. Lot of the guys haven’t been to Australia, that’s why we are going there early. We want to play on the bouncy pitches of Perth, we want to see what we can do there. Only 7,8 members of the squad have been to Australia, so we have organised a few practice games,” he said.

“We need to understand what combination we can play. Bumrah is out of the World Cup, so we need to find a bowler who has the experience of bowling in Australia. Not sure who that bowler is going to be, we will see once we travel to Australia, we’ll find it out there,” Rohit added.
