Pakistan cricket team has been under fire following their 3-0 whitewash against England at their home. England won the third and final Test of the series on Tuesday by 8 wickets and became the first team to whitewash Pakistan in their home by 3-0. This was also Pakistan’s fourth consecutive loss under the captaincy of Babar Azam as they also lost to Australia in March 2022 by 0-1. Amid harsh criticism from several former players, fast bowler Haris Rauf has extended his support to the Pakistan Captain as he Tweeted a photograph of them together.

Rauf took to Twitter at night on Tuesday and posted a photo with Babar Azam and captioned it “Ap hamaray leader ho or raho ga hamesha inshallah❤️#sochnabemanahai  #Respect” (You are our leader and will remain forever)

Despite losing the series, Babar Azam finished as the highest run scorer for Pakistan and third highest of the series. He scored 348 runs in six innings at an average of 58 with one hundred and three fifties to his name.

Pakistan was thrashed by England who played the entire series with their ‘Bazball’ style cricket and scored at a good run rate. England won the first Test in Rawalpindi by 74 runs just a few minutes before stumps on the final day and the thrilling second Test in Multan by 26 runs. Pakistan couldn’t give a tough fight in the third Test as England won the match in the first session of Day 4 and completed a whitewash in the historic series.

Pakistan out of World Test Championship final race

It was England’s first tour of Pakistan after 2005. The three-lions hadn’t toured Pakistan for 17 years following a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s hopes of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) final are completely gone with the 3-0 whitewash defeat against England pushing them down to the seventh spot in the points table with a points percentage of 38.89.

Pakistan will next host New Zealand for two Tests and three ODIs starting 26th December.
