India’s four-match Test series against Australia will get underway on February 9. The series will be played on Indian soil after a gap of two editions. The Kangaroos are holding a preparatory camp in Bengaluru and are preparing for the series at Alur ground instead of playing the practice game.

To address the Ravi Ashwin problem, the Australians have been practising by using his duplicate Maheesh Pithiya, who also came to Bengaluru with the Australian Team as a net bowler. Pithiya was seen bowling to the Aussie batters in a video. Wasim Jaffer took a dig at the Australians and reposted the video saying, “First Test is five days away and @ashwinravi99 is already inside Aus’s head,”

Harbhajan Singh also gave his two cents on it and sent a picture of the training pitch saying, “This the main thing they have in their head”. The pitches that will be provided for the series has been a talking point among cricket experts. There has been a lot of banter between India and Australia about the surface on which the first Test will be played.

Venkatesh Prasad and Ian Healy had a heated exchange regarding Indian pitches on social media

The photos of the training pitch have been doing the rounds on social media and have been a hot topic of discussion amongst fans. The fans have also been amazed as to how much preparation has been put in by Australia ahead of the Test series in India. The last Border Gavaskar Trophy was held in India way back in 2016-17.

Ian Healy and Venkatesh Prasad were caught in the crossfire about the nature of the pitch in India. Healy had said that if India makes “fair” pitches, then the Border Gavaskar Trophy will be won by Australia to which Prasad responded with a cheeky reply saying, “So Australia prepared unfair pitches against India in 2018-19 and 2020-21 to lose both test series at their home”. The last two editions of the trophy have been won by India in Australia.
