Australia Women are playing a three-match ODI series against South Africa. In the first ODI Australia women led by Alyssa Healy defeated South Africa women by 8 wickets. But during the second ODI match an unusual incident happened.

During the second ODI, the standing umpire made a mistake by giving not out for an LBW appeal against Sune Luus on the ball off Ashleigh Gardner, but the team reviewed the decision and it remained not out because the ball was impact outside off, but the on-field umpire Claire Polosak gave the wrong decision, giving it out after the review and later realizing and changing her decision.

When the third umpire advised Polosak to stay with her previous ruling, the on-field umpire declared Luus out. She instantly discovered her mistake and signalled not-out while apologised. Alana King and Ashleigh Gardner were filmed smiling after they saw the umpire’s blunder. Gardner went on to take Luus’ wicket in her following over, dismissing the former South African captain for 19 runs off 33 balls.

Australia women dominate South Africa women

The game is now delayed due to rain, and the Proteas are 136/4. The host team has a chance to win the ODI series by taking a dominating 2-0 lead. The hosts look to be in command of the game, as South Africa continues to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Tazmin Brits, Anneke Bosch, and Luus all had strong starts, but neither could convert them into higher points. Marizanne Kapp, who is presently unbeaten at 35 runs, is likely to guide her team to a fighting target. Kapp is joined at the crease by Nadine de Klerk, while the explosive Chloe Tryon is yet to bat. However, with the score at 136/4 and more than 20 overs left, South Africa needed a strong partnership to set up an entertaining run chase.
