The World of WWE and wrestling is a complex world to see. On another note Wrestling stalwart Vince Russo talked about his stint at WWE being more fulfilling than his stint at World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Russo was looked at as one of the founding stars during the popular time of the Attitude phase. He helped the Rock and Stone Cold to become prominent figures in the World of WWE and wrestling. Russo’s time at WCW after switching from WWE has not been the smoothest of rides.

On Sportskeeda’s show UnSKripted, he talked about the support and backing that he received from Vince McMahon who kept him away from all the politics and controversy that took place. “The Attitude Era was fine, bro because we were all working together. It was a family atmosphere. Vince McMahon definitely had my back, so politics couldn’t come into way. He protected me really well. So that was a good time. I’d say, the day I left WWE and went to WCW, that kind of the beginning of the end,”  Russo said.

Making Thunder was WCW’s biggest mistake: Vince Russo

On a recent episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo explained in detail how McMahon was one of the founding brains that helped make SmackDown in 1999 right after Thunder was launched by WCW. However, Russo believes that Eric Bischoff was bang on in saying that putting in another extra two hours of programming was a bad call that cost WCW dearly.

“I’m sure it did, absolutely,” Russo said, referring to SmackDown being influenced by Thunder. “The question is did that really come from the network or from Vince? That’s the question. That I don’t know. Was it the network looking to take advantage like Nitro did or did Vince see that model? Meanwhile, Eric will tell you to this day Thunder was the biggest mistake WCW made, and I agree with him because, bro, you’re watering down the product.” Russo added.

When WCW had its last breadth in 2001, SmackDown continues to jump off the charts on TV due to its Worldwide appeal. The show continues to amaze audiences worldwide even to this day. The show has had a lot of appeal amongst die-hard WWE fans.
